The collaboration will produce vital intersectional resources for LGBTQI inclusion in schools and colleges

Educate & Celebrate, one of the leading LGBTQI education charities in the UK has partnered up with the team behind the critically acclaimed documentary Are You Proud? to produce vital intersectional resources for LGBTQI inclusion in schools and colleges.
Not only are the resources perfect for embedding Diversity & Inclusion into the curriculum, they also fulfil new regulations for the teaching of Relationships & Sex Education (RSE) in English schools, an inconceivable landmark moment for those who grew up under Section 28.
However, to be effective, schools and teachers need to be equipped with the correct training which is why Educate & Celebrate, in partnership with Jo Ogogo, the Managing Director of Face Value Training, are delivering a free anti-racism and empowering change in education webinar on Wednesday 14 October at 5-6pm. Using I Hear Voices, a poem by activist and poet PJ Samuels, as a basis, the lesson plans are designed to help 11-18 year olds understand the complex history of our combined struggles for liberation. You can download the free introductory assembly here.
The series of six lessons for key stages three, four and five could be delivered as part of the History, Politics or PSHE curriculum or for whole school assemblies and tutorials. These can be accessed when you join as a member.
Dr Elly Barnes, MBE, CEO and founder of Educate & Celebrate says: “We are currently using the plans with our PRIDE Youth Network and PRIDE in Inclusion schools to politicise young people to ensure they receive an accurate history of the Black, queer and women’s movements. This is helping young people to draw parallels with today’s political climate allowing them to formulate their own responses and campaigns.”
