KS3 Maths Averages

There are plenty of talking points in the lesson to do with misleading statistics โ€“ the underlying theme of the lesson is to learn that the meaning of average is โ€˜usualโ€™ or โ€˜normalโ€™, but that it can be twisted to give a very different impression.

Description

By the end of the lesson, students will be able to:

  • Find the MODE, MEDIAN and MEAN for sets of data.
  • Tell which of the three is the best one to use.
  • Tell the strengths and weaknesses of the various forms of average.
